Tokenized Silver Explained: KAG Trust Score and the Squeeze
Verdict first: RWTS rates KAG, Kinesis Silver, at Tier 1 (90/100), the highest-rated and longest-running tokenized silver product we cover. It leads on rating and tenure, not raw scale, since no silver token has crossed a billion-dollar market cap. We rate the products. You decide.
Silver is the asset where tokenized backing quality is being stress-tested in real time. Silver trades at $60.69 per troy ounce, down 0.22% from the $60.83 it cost on Friday. Spot has held near multi-decade highs while the physical plumbing groans. On October 9, the one-month lease rate in London spiked to 39% before easing slightly to 32%; for context, this rate usually sits below 1%, and as recently as July it was just 6%. When the cost to borrow metal explodes like that, deliverable silver is scarce, and the difference between a token that holds allocated ounces and one that holds an IOU stops being academic.
The physical reality: a squeeze in deliverable metal
The London market, the hub of global silver clearing, has been the pressure point. Bars that meet LBMA delivery standards are becoming scarce, while metal stored on COMEX or in Asian warehouses cannot move fast enough to relieve the pressure. On the COMEX side, the drawdown has been persistent. Registered metal available for delivery has seen major outflows; since September there has been a substantial draw down in Registered supplies, further evidence of strain in the physical market.
This is the backdrop a tokenized silver holder should internalize. In a squeeze, the premium belongs to metal you can actually verify and, if needed, redeem. A paper-backed silver claim is worth exactly what its counterparty can deliver when everyone asks at once.
KAG: the Trust Score breakdown
KAG earns a Tier 1 Trust Score of 90/100. It is the category's anchor. Kinesis Silver is the longest-running silver-backed digital asset still in active circulation, with each token representing one troy ounce of physical silver of minimum 999 fineness, issued by Kinesis Cayman on the Kinesis blockchain.
The vaulting and audit arrangement is what underwrites the score. Physical silver backing KAG is vaulted by Kinesis' strategic partner, the Allocated Bullion Exchange, across a global network, with independent physical audits conducted biannually by Inspectorate, a Bureau Veritas company. KAG also pays holders a yield most silver tokens lack. KAG pays holders a monthly yield drawn from 15% of Kinesis' global transaction-fee revenue, distributed in KAG itself. Live circulation sits in the mid-millions of ounces; confirm the current figure on the Kinesis explorer at explorer.kinesis.money before quoting a number, since it shifts with mint and redemption flows. The scoring inputs are documented in our methodology.
Silver's token landscape is thinner than gold's. Tokenized silver remains a fraction of tokenized gold's scale, and unlike gold, where PAXG and XAUT dominate a multi-billion-dollar niche, no single silver token has crossed the billion-dollar market-cap threshold, reflecting silver's lower unit value and bulkier physical logistics. That makes backing quality, not market cap, the right lens, which is where KAG's audited, allocated structure matters most.
Why the squeeze raises the stakes for tokenized silver
Backwardation (spot trading above futures) is the market's distress flare. It signals that holders will pay a premium for metal now rather than wait. For a tokenized silver holder, the lesson is direct: in a scarcity regime, the value of verifiable, allocated, audited ounces rises relative to synthetic exposure. KAG's structure is built for exactly that scrutiny.
If the London lease rate normalizes back toward 1%, the stress abates and the premium on physical metal compresses. If rates stay elevated into the next delivery window, deliverable silver stays scarce and the case for audited, redeemable tokens strengthens. The humility variable is simple: no one knows how long the dislocation runs. What does not change is which token holds real ounces.

We rate. You decide.
RWTS is not bullish or bearish on silver. We are the rating agency for tokenized real assets. KAG leads tokenized silver at 90/100 on the strength of allocated backing, biannual audits, and a published redemption path. In a squeeze, that is the profile that matters. We rate. You decide.
